Police in Alebtong district are holding a teacher at Akura Senior Secondary School for defiling a 16 year old girl, where the victim is a senior two student.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson, identified the suspect Erem Denish, a 39-year-old resident of Corner Aloi Ward, Aloi Town Council, Alebtong District.
The suspect was arrested after the teenager's mother filed a complaint that her daughter was defiled by her teacher.
It is alleged that Mr. Erem had rented a house belonging to the victim’s uncle. He reportedly took advantage of this situation by convincing the victim to enter a relationship with him, promising marriage.
He had been transporting the victim to school on his motorcycle, and the victim was persuaded by his advances.
On March 24, 2025, the victim accompanied other students to Abia Primary School for a football match. The suspect allegedly followed her there and, at approximately 6:00 PM, took her to the school’s structures where he is accused of engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse with her. On April 18, 2025, the victim and other girls underwent routine medical check-ups, during which her pregnancy was discovered. Consequently, she was suspended from school on April 19, 2025, and handed over to her mother, who reported the incident to Akura Police Station on April 20, 2025, for investigation.
A case of aggravated defilement has been registered, and the file has been transferred to Alebtong Central Police Station (CPS). Statements have been recorded from witnesses, the mother, and the victim.
A Police Form 3A (PF 3A) was issued for a medical examination, and the results have been retrieved and attached to the file. Documents verifying the victim’s age, including her immunization card and baptism card, have also been retrieved.
The suspect, Mr. Erem Denish, has been arrested and is currently detained in police custody as investigations continue.
“It is truly unfortunate that a teacher, entrusted with the care of a student by her parents, allegedly abused that trust in such a reprehensible manner,” stated the police spokesperson.
The case file will be submitted to the Resident Chief State Attorney for perusal and legal advice.
