Opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye collapsed in court on Wednesday 29, July 2026 after protesting proceedings before trial judge Emmanuel Baguma.
According to reports from court, Besigye objected to the testimony of chief state witness Andrew Wilson Orlando proceeding allegedly without defence lawyers present.
Besigye and co-accused Obeid Lutale are facing charges before the court. Besigye protested the trial format, and the lengthy protest reportedly left him exhausted, after which he collapsed in the dock.
Court proceedings were halted and did not continue with a formal adjournment
Dr Besigye has been rushed to hospital in an ambulance after collapsing in courtroom.
