Kilak South Member of Parliament Hon. Gilbert Olanya has claimed that Gen. Otema Awany is among several senior military officers reportedly targeted for arrest.
Olanya said rumours had emerged about an alleged list of generals whom an unnamed individual was planning to arrest.
“We heard rumours that he also has a list of other generals that he is yet to arrest. Somebody told me that even the name of Gen. Otema Awany is among the list that he wanted to arrest,” Olanya stated.
The claims come following the arrest of Lt Gen. Peter Elwelu at his home in Soroti by the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), which accused him of involvement in subversive activities and plans to destabilise the Teso sub-region.
The purported arrest list has not been independently verified.
