Omoro District Woman MP Hon. Catherine Lamwaka has been elected Chairperson of the Acholi Parliamentary Group, APG.
She takes over from Kilak North MP Hon. Anthony Akol. Agago County MP Hon. Otto Edward Makmot will serve as her deputy.
Other newly elected APG committee members are: Hon. Opio Geoffrey, Nwoya County MP – General Secretary, Hon. Nancy Acora, Lamwo Woman MP – Treasurer and Hon. Ojok Andrew Oulanya, Omoro County MP – Publicity Secretary.
Tororo County MP Hon. Okot Peter chaired the election. 15 members attended physically, 4 joined online, and 7 sent apologies.
In her acceptance remarks, Lamwaka said APG’s priority will be social and economic transformation in Acholi sub-region. She urged unity among leaders to advance development, reduce poverty, create wealth, and improve education for children across the region.
