South Sudan-based singer Dolla Bill DeLaru has announced that he and his team will not attend the much-anticipated MIL AMILA Concert scheduled to take place in Magwi tomorrow.
In a public statement addressed to event organisers, promoters and fellow artists, Dolla Bill expressed disappointment over what he described as unprofessional conduct and a lack of proper communication in event management.
The singer raised concerns about organisers who allegedly fail to honour agreements made with artists, particularly after using their images and promotional materials to market events.
According to Dolla Bill, late communication or sudden changes of plans after artists have already invested their time and supported event promotion can seriously damage their professional reputations, create doubts among fans and amount to exploitation.
He specifically mentioned Ongwech John Okot Eliseo, popularly known as Black and White, thanking him for what he described as a lesson learned while warning other artists and industry stakeholders to be cautious when entering into event agreements.
"Thanks for using us. It's a lesson to learn and a warning to all," Dolla Bill stated.
The singer also took the opportunity to apologise to his family, relatives, friends, supporters and loyal fans, informing them that he and his team would not be part of the MIL AMILA Concert in Magwi.
However, Dolla Bill did not disclose further details surrounding the disagreement, stating that the reasons were best known to Black and White and his team.
His withdrawal has raised questions about communication, professionalism and the importance of respecting agreements between artists and event organisers in South Sudan's growing entertainment industry.
As the music industry continues to expand, the incident serves as a reminder that mutual respect, transparency and timely communication are essential for building trust between artists, promoters and event organisers.
