Police in Lira City are investigating a suspected suicide involving a gospel singer and music producer identified as Lolo Sam, 38. Sam reportedly died by suicide on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Eyewitnesses reportedly said Sam travelled on a boda boda to town at around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, where he allegedly purchased a rope.
It is further reported that a friend went looking for Sam at around 1:00 p.m. but could not find him. The friend reportedly checked a place where Sam usually spent time before returning to the house, where he found him hanging inside.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and the reason for his death has not been established.
North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed that investigations into the incident were underway.
“The scene was examined, processed, and documented, while statements were recorded from the relevant witnesses to aid investigations,” Okema said.
He also urged the public to support people experiencing difficult circumstances and encourage them to seek professional help when necessary.
“The public is also encouraged to offer compassionate support to individuals facing difficult circumstances and to seek professional help where necessary,” Okema added.
The late musician was a celebrated figure in the region’s gospel music scene, known for his performances and music production work. Tributes have begun pouring in from fans and colleagues across Northern Uganda.
