Northern Uganda’s fast-rising music star, Opiyo Geoffrey, alias Badman Jelly G, has been nominated for the HiPipo Music Awards 2026 for his hit song “Yelo-O.”
Badman Jelly G has emerged as one of the biggest household names in Uganda’s music industry and South Sudan since rising to fame last year.
In 2025, he was nominated in several categories at the Northern Uganda Music Awards, although he did not win any accolades.
Undeterred by the setbacks, Badman Jelly G returned to the drawing board this year, sharpening his craft and releasing several hit songs, including “Yelo-O” and “Gwok Dudi.” His music has since earned both national and international recognition.
His song “Yelo-O” has been nominated alongside songs by other musicians, including Eezzy, Pato Loverboy, and Okeng BornTown, in the Best Regional Song of the Year category.
“Yelo-O” has been one of the top-charting hits of the year since its release in March. The song has continued to dominate music charts and gain popularity among fans.
The 2026 HiPipo Music Awards feature Best Regional Song among their 15 award categories. HiPipo says the 15th edition will be held on 13 November 2026 in Kampala.
