Akoko Mary, the mother of the late Pastor Joseph Okidi, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Chief Justice to intervene in the release of her son's body for burial.

Pastor Okidi passed away on October 6, 2026, due to multiple organ failure at International Hospital Kampala, following a road crash on the Gulu-Juba Highway.

Akoko Mary's emotional appeal highlights the family's dispute over Pastor Joseph Okidi's burial.

However, his body remains in the mortuary due to a dispute over the burial location.

Akoko Mary wants her son buried in their home in Corner Kilak, Pader District, while the father's side of the family prefers Wang Lobo-Gere Gere sub-county in Agago.

The burial is planned for November 1, 2025, pending resolution of the dispute from the two families.

She alleges that her daughter-in-law is working with influential leaders to control the burial arrangements, potentially due to her own limited resources and support.

Akoko Mary emphasizes her maternal bond, having carried and nurtured her son, and seeks justice and dignity for her child in this difficult time. The situation underscores the complexities of family dynamics and the challenges of navigating cultural and traditional expectations surrounding burials.
According to Okidi's Will, he insisted to be buried in Corner Kilak, Pader District.
