Former State Minister for Foreign Affairs Okello Oryem has opened up about his disappointment following the loss of his ministerial position, clarifying that he was not disappointed in President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Oryem emphasized that, despite losing his job in government, he holds no resentment towards the President, insisting that his disappointment was solely about losing the position he had held.

“I was not disappointed by President Museveni. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I was not disappointed, but I was only disappointed about losing my ministerial job,” Oryem said.

His remarks suggest that his frustration stemmed from losing the ministerial position rather than any personal disagreement with Museveni.

Oryem, who previously served as State Minister for Foreign Affairs, was among the government officials whose political and ministerial roles placed them at the centre of Uganda’s diplomatic affairs.

His statement underscores the distinction he makes between his relationship with the President and his feelings about being removed from a ministerial position.

While acknowledging his disappointment over losing the job, Oryem maintained that he was not personally disappointed in Museveni.
