Members of Parliament from the Acholi sub-region, under the Acholi Parliamentary Group (APG), have held a consultative meeting with the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Gen. (Rtd) Caleb Akandwanaho, popularly known as Salim Saleh, to explore strategic interventions aimed at accelerating economic transformation in the region.
The meeting, held on 16th October 2026 at Kirema Heritage Farm in Nakaseke District, was led by the Chairperson of the Acholi Parliamentary Group, Hon. Catherine Lamwaka.
Discussions centred on key economic priorities for the Acholi sub-region, with particular emphasis on agricultural commercialisation, industrialisation, community participation in investment, and securing land ownership.
The engagement sought to identify practical approaches to strengthening economic activity, expanding investment opportunities, and promoting sustainable development across the sub-region.
Agricultural commercialisation emerged as one of the key areas of focus, alongside industrialisation as a pathway to adding value to local produce and stimulating economic growth.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of involving communities in investment initiatives and addressing land ownership concerns to support long-term development.
Following the deliberations, the Acholi Parliamentary Group issued resolutions intended to advance the agreed priorities and guide efforts towards sustainable economic development in Acholi.
Hon.
Lamwaka expressed appreciation for the engagement, reaffirming the importance of collective efforts in pursuing the region’s economic transformation agenda.
“Apwoyo!” she said, underscoring the spirit of appreciation following the consultative engagement.
The meeting marks a continued effort by Acholi leaders to explore strategic partnerships and interventions that can unlock the sub-region’s economic potential and improve livelihoods.
