The Minister of Public Service, Hon. Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, today, 1 October 2026, inspected the ongoing construction of the Service Uganda Centre at the Posta Uganda premises in Gulu City.
The centre is being developed with support from the National Information Technology Authority–Uganda (NITA-U) under the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project – Government Network (UDAP-GovNet), in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Service and Posta Uganda.
The Gulu facility is one of three regional Service Uganda Centres being supported under the project, alongside centres in Mbarara and Tororo.
The centres are designed as one-stop hubs where citizens can access a range of government services, including national ID services, tax and TIN services, business registration, passport applications and driving permits.
Gulu City Mayor Julius Achire Labeja, popularly known as Gunya, said the facility will bring government services closer to residents of Gulu, the Acholi sub-region and Northern Uganda by providing access to multiple services under one roof.
The Service Uganda model is intended to make public services more accessible and reduce the need for citizens to move between different government offices to obtain services.
