Kilak South MP, Hon Gilbert Olanya and former Aruu County MP, Odonga Otto have rejected the summons by Aswa West police over balaalo farm destruction allegations.
The duo were expected to record their statements in Pader District where they declined, expressing fears that their presence in Pader could inflame an already tense situation, potentially inciting community unrest.
The two leaders, however, declined to go to Pader, citing concerns over the integrity of the District Police Commander (DPC), whom they allege has been compromised by the Balaalo.
Alternatively, they were advised by the Deputy Regional Police Commander of Aswa West, Jimmy Wandera to visit the Aswa East Police Region in Kitgum to seek further guidance should they have valid reasons preventing them from going to Pader.
They warned that such tensions could escalate into violent protests, further complicating the enforcement of the presidential executive order on the eviction of the Balaalo.
