A four-year-old girl was killed and two other family members were critically injured after lightning struck their family home during a heavy downpour in Lamwo District on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Amaro Rwot Gifty, a pupil at Aceba Nursery School, was reportedly sheltering inside the family home when the incident occurred.
The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. in Larom Central Village, Abakadyak Parish, Aceba Sub-county, Lamwo District. Amaro died instantly, while her father and sister were reportedly rushed to Padibe Health Centre IV for treatment.
According to a reliable source, Amaro’s father, Olara Bosco, 30, got paralyzed and her sister, Lagum Bakita, 12, sustained severe burns and were admitted to the health facility in critical condition. Their mother, Aromorac Brenda, 27, reportedly escaped injury.
