Chief Justice of Uganda, Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has built St. Matthew’s Chapel church in Lukwangole Parish, Patongo sub-county, Agago district, in honor of his late parents.

The church was commissioned by the Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, Raphael p’Mony Wokorach.

The church, located in the village of Kal Aloi Owiny-Dollo’s ancestral home and stands as a powerful symbol of faith and gratitude.

Construction began in 2024, and it stands as a tribute to Dollo’s father, the late Mzee Kasimiro Ongom, who passed away in 1996, and his mother, the late Mego Paulina Angom, who passed away in 2012.

St. Matthew’s Chapel is a symbol of faith and gratitude, reflecting the Chief Justice’s deep respect and love for his parents.

According to the Chief Justice, ''I built a church for my mother, a staunch lay faithful. Although she came from an Anglican family, she accepted a baptism in the Catholic church."
