The Ker Kwaro Acholi has pledged to give all the necessary support towards the Music In Space climate awareness festival, the event aimed at educating people about the dangers of destroying trees.
The assurance was made last week by the Ker Kwaro Acholi Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Okumu Martin during the launch of music in space at Acholi Inn Hotel.
The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the organisers for choosing Gulu City as the potential city to hold the climate awareness festival.
According to Mr. Martin, Ker Kwaro Acholi the cultural institution will fully participate in the climate change mitigation activities.
"We Ker Kwaro Acholi, the cultural institution will fully participate in this climate change mitigation activities. We are very happy that the music in space has chosen Gulu, the cleanest city in Uganda at the moment. We look forward to fully participating in any climate measures in Uganda. We look forward to enhancing the tourism potential for the Acholi sub-region." - Mr Martin said.
He added that all the chiefdom in Acholi sub-region will actively participate in reafforestation, reforestation, planning fruit trees and preservation of swamps in the region.
He also said they are so delighted that musicians and journalists are participating in the festival to create the awareness of climate change.
Furthermore, he stated that Ker Kwaro Acholi is currently looking forward to enhancing tourism potential for the Acholi sub-region.
He added that Ker Kwaro currently is focused on promotion of economic activities of Acholi, stating that according to recent statistics Acholi people are the poorest in Uganda.
The $1 dollar concert is scheduled to take place at Pece Stadium in Gulu City, starting on 4th July to 6th July 2025.
The concert will feature both local and international artists from six continents.
