President Yoweri Museveni has condoled with the family of fallen Northern Uganda renowned musician Bernard Munu Paul alias Beepee in Dokolo District.
The Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng while delivering the message told the family and mourners that the president has sent her with 10 million shillings as his condolences to handover to the deceased's wife Irene Ejang.
"I have also come with the condolences of the president. I made him know that a musician called Beepee has lost his life. Then he asked me what happened to him and I told him that he got involved in a motor accident and he then asked me how old he was, and I told him he was 33 years old. He then asked me to come and tell you that his death is painful and he again told me to tell musicians that you are the future of Uganda. He then asked me to deliver this 10 million shillings to the widow to support her as she looks for what to do." She lamented.
The minister lauded the deceased musician for his educational songs which have educated, mended broken relationships and console many people
"Bernard's death is too painful because he was still very young at age 33. His songs that he sings were educational songs which have educated many people."
She went ahead and applauded musicians and other entertainers in the entertainment industry for the commendable work.
She says the power of music is underestimated because it doesn't only entertain but it inspires people to develop unity in love and live together in harmony.
"I want to take this moment to thank the music and entertainment industry. The work you are doing is commendable. The power of music cannot be underestimated. Does not only entertain but it also inspires people to develop, unity in love, and live together in harmony."
She urged musicians in the country to drive carefully especially when using roads.
The late musician died on Wednesday 24, January from Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he had been admitted for special treatment after getting involved in a fatal road accident on Tuesday 23rd, January 2024 near Front Page Lounge, Lira City.
Beepee's body was on Saturday 3rd February 2024 laid to rest at his ancestral home in Eleng, Okwalongwen, Dokolo District.
