Democratic Party President Norbert Mao has lashed out at a section of Ugandans in the United States of America who were seen online protesting the airlifting of the speaker of parliament Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah to US for treatments when dressed in National Unity Platform party red attires as night dancers (wizards).
Addressing journalists at Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC) on Tuesday 15th February 2022, unhappy Norbert Mao says it's very dishurtening to see fellow Ugandans wishing death to their own fellow countymate.
According to Norbert Mao, Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah is the first Ugandan to be airlifted for treatment outside the country but several others including the Kabaka of Buganda.
''Oulanyah has chosen to die in his own house, I went and saw him in critical condition and he said am going to stay here when nobody can not take care of me. Oulanyah did not beg anybody's money, it's the Cheif Justice Owiny Dollo who started mobilizing us one by one.'' he said.
However, Ceaser Lubangakene, the National Unity Platform spokesperson said those seen protesting in the US are not members of NUP but other Ugandans who were dressed in attires similar to that of NUP.
Lubangakene says the party condemns the behaviors of the group adding that as NUP they are not happy with what happened in the US.
Meanwhile, on February 3rd, 2022, the Speaker of the 11th parliament and Omoro District legislator was flown to the United States for specialized treatment after being discharged from Mulago Referral Hospital where he had been admitted.
