South Sudan commercial plane crashed on Tuesday at an airstrip of Jonglei state killing at least 10 people on board, including 8 passengers and two pilots.
The deceased comprised of seven females, one man and two pilots, according to sources.
Kur Kuol, the director of Juba International Airport confirmed that the crash occurred in the town of Pieri in Jonglei state immediately after taking off around 5pm local time (1500GMT).
"It was with great shock and horror to receive the news of the plane crash (HK-4274) of South Sudan Supreme Airline that happened today the 2nd day of March 2021 at around 5.05 PM at Pieri Airstrip," Governor Denay Jock Chagor said in a statement sent to AFP Wednesday.
According to Kur Kuol, the plane crashed in a region where there was no network coverage and it was difficult to confirm the exact number of casualties.
