Northern Uganda has selected beauty queen who will represent the region at the Miss Uganda 2023, battling for the grand crown with others representatives from different parts of the country.
The search for Miss Uganda 2023/24 pageant was officially launched earlier this month to streamline the process of crowning a new queen.
Ms. Amviko Desire Diana took home the title of Miss Uganda North 2023 while Ms. Adyero Lourine Winniefred emerged as first runner up and Ms. Ayot Judith emerged second runner up in a colorful event held at Bomah Hotel Gulu City on Saturday evening.
Speaking to press after winning the crown, Queen Amviko Desire Diana said I feel so good, it's an honor because this is the land that has given birth to me, raised me, and the land that has taken care of me being able to be the queen. The miss Uganda if this land means a lot and for me is like a huge responsibility on my shoulder I feel I have to do a lot.
When asked what should people of Northern Uganda and Uganda at large expect from her, she said ''people of Northern Uganda should expect me to uplift the culture, to make our dances known to the world, to market our tourism destinations because the North stretches from West Nile to Karamoja and there are so many beautiful places like Kidepo National Park, Aruu Falls, Murchison Falls. I really want the world to know that we are rich in culture, we are rich in everything.
The colourful event was attended by RDC Amolatar, Francis Rwotlonyo as the chief guest, Miss Face Of Gulu, Ms. Acibo Fiona Mary and Miss Kitgum 2023, Ms Arach Alpha Rachael.
