A senior three student of Gulu Central High school in Gulu City identified as Gabriel Rwotomiya was last night shot dead during a strike.
It's said the strike started after the management blocked students from watching the Manchester derby match between Man City and Manchester United that ended up 4-1 in favor of Man City.
The deceased 17 is a resident of Obiya High Land in Laroo-Pece Division was found hiding on top of a tree in the school compound when a UPDF soldier shot him.
The students had reportedly gone on rampage at 9:00pm after a school official turned off the screen and asked them to go for preps.
School property such as classrooms, administration offices, school bus and computer laboratory were destroyed during the strike.
Speaking to journalists, Jimmy Owani, the Head Teacher Gulu Central High School said they called for support from Police and Army to control the rioting students but unfortunately a stray bullet hit one of them killing him instantly.
