The Aswa West Police Spokesperson ASP David Ongom Mudong has cautioned students planning to visit for Easter holidays to avoid taking free lifts from strangers and instead use recognized public transport. He also urged them to decline offers of free accommodation from non-relatives.

"To students coming for Easter holidays, we advise you to avoid taking lifts from strangers and use recognized public means of transport. Also, avoid non-relatives offering free accommodation and report any suspicious individuals to the police," he said.

In a Easter season press release on Wednesday April 1, 2026, ASP Mudong highlighted security concerns for the Easter season, citing potential crimes like terrorism, defilement, rape, housebreaking, theft, and substance abuse. He also warned of possible traffic accidents and urged people to plan their journeys carefully.

The Aswa West Regional Headquarters and divisional command emphasized that they will work with the public to ensure peaceful Easter celebrations, protecting life and property, and maintaining law and order.

The statement read: "As Easter approaches, we note the festivities will involve merry-making, church gatherings, overnight prayers, and other activities. We will exercise our roles to protect life and property, prevent crime, and cooperate with other agencies and the public."

The police will monitor prayer centers, leisure points, and hotels, ensuring they have adequate security measures in place. Those posing security threats will be dealt with.

ASP Mudong reassured the public of their commitment to community policing, saying, "We shall work closely with the 'Wanaichi' and address complaints with utmost attention, wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Easter."
