Legendary musician Bosmic Otim has been released after the Kitgum Chief Magistrate’s Court granted him cash bail of UGX 2 million.
Chief Magistrate Robert Ekirita granted bail on Tuesday 21, July 2026 after Otim presented five sureties.
Otim, who is facing charges of grievous bodily harm against fellow artist KD Kristo Hammer, was remanded on July 13, 2026, after failing to provide a Local Council I introductory letter.
Appearing before the Kitgum Chief Magistrate’s Court, Otim was charged with grievous bodily harm contrary to Section 202 of the Penal Code Act. The offence carries a maximum sentence of 7 years imprisonment upon conviction.
Prosecution alleges that on May 3, 2026, at Corner Mission in Kitgum Municipality, Otim unlawfully caused grievous harm to Okello Opira aka KD Kristo Hammer.
Otim is represented by Robert Okot of Opiny, Awino, Afwono and Company Advocates.
In granting bail, the court set a cash bond of UGX 2 million for Otim and required five sureties, each bonded at UGX 10 million non-cash.
The sureties presented are: Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Member of Parliament for Kilak South, Amuru District; Bernard Ocaya, LCI Chairperson of Langalanga Cell, Kitgum Municipality; Margaret Adong, Otim’s wife; Alex Ojera, musician popularly known as Murugut; and Felix Odida, Otim’s maternal uncle.
Chief Magistrate Ekirita cautioned the accused against making comments on social media or other public platforms regarding the matter, and warned him not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.
Ekirita stated that any attempt to obstruct justice would attract serious consequences.
The court adjourned the matter to August 4, 2026, for hearing. Otim was ordered to continue reporting to court on the scheduled dates.
