Incumbent Fr Charles Onen has suffered a setback after finishing second in the hotly contested Pece-Laroo Division member of parliament race to his rival Hon Norbert Mao.
The seat was fiercely fought, with Hon Norbert Mao (DP), Opoka Simon (UPC), Hon Tony Kitara (NRM), Rev Fr Onen Charles (Independent), Odonkonyero Charles (Independent), Okello Samuel (DF), Opobo Wilfred (Independent), and Komakech Geoffrey (FDC) all battling it out.
Despite mounting strong pressure on Hon Norbert Mao, Rev Fr Onen Charles couldn't overcome Mao in an election characterized by high voter turnout and stiff competition.
Democratic Party leader, Hon Norbert Mao polled 7,359 votes, while incumbent Fr Charles Onen garnered 5,562 votes, finishing second. NRM's Tony Kitara came third with 2,867 total votes, and UPC's Opoka Simon came fourth with 381 total votes. FDC's Komakech Geoffrey was in fifth position with 236 total votes, while Opobo Wilfred (Independent) finished sixth with 207 total votes, Odonkonyero Charles (Independent) came in seventh with 77 total votes, and Okello Samuel (DF) finished last with 67 total votes.
