Two Next Media staff members have died, while a third remains hospitalized in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following a fatal road crash that occurred on Friday, August 7, in Namulanda along Entebbe Road.

The deceased have been identified as Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye, while their colleague, Brian "Makona" Ssemanda, is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit under close observation by a medical team.

According to reports, the three staff members were returning from covering a celebrity boxing event involving entertainers Chicken Chicken and Shawa at Supremacy Lounge in Nakulabye.

However, the circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been officially disclosed.

In a statement released on Friday, Next Media confirmed that the accident involved three members of its staff: Badru Kasirye, Isaac Ndamagye, and Brian "Makona" Ssemanda.

The company said Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, while Brian Ssemanda survived and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

"We remain in direct contact with the hospital and will share updates on his condition as they become available," the statement said.

Next Media extended its condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

The company also requested privacy for the bereaved families and for Brian Ssemanda and his loved ones as he continues to receive treatment.

The media house said further updates would be shared as more information becomes available. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash.

Earlier this year, in February, Next Media also lost one of its journalists, Julius Kitone, who died in a road accident along the Mbarara–Lyantonde Highway.
