Locals in Cuba A and B demands for community road to boost development

Residents of  Cubu A and B cell in Tegwan South Ward  Laroo-Pece Division in Gulu city have unanimously agreed  that division authorities  should  open  for them  the community access road that will connect them to city centre.

Locals are optimistic that once the road is open it will ease access social service and boost the development of their isolated cell.

The agreement was reached on Tuesday (yesterday)  following the meeting with division authorities that was held in Cubu A and B cell.

The Division authorities were summoned  by the local leaders of the village who demanded them to explains to some of cell individuals who were reportedly demanding for compensation from the division  before road can pass from their land.

Omona Walter Kato, the LC1 Chairperson of Cubu A and B cell reveals the community have been struggling to access their home due to lack of community access road  something he says prompted members to offer land so that road can been open.

Geoffrey Otim the division Mayor appreciated the moves however he explains to the locals that the Division  council dose not compensate the communities when they are opening the community access road but only provide facilitation to the family with graveyard to reallocate their  already buried family members to show respect for human dignity.

Otim pledged that now that the community has agreed, he has give two week to the people who have their crops on the pegged area to harvest it before the road equipments are brought on ground to commence the work.

However Eng Oola Sunday who is seeing the two division  says they have already pegged the proposed road.

Revealing that their road equipment are currently working in Twon-Okun, Bungatira, Lapeta, and Pageya after those areas they will proceed to Cubu A and B to open CARs.

Meanwhile Tony Obalim, the area councillor four  for Tegwana south ward says the community have proposed the name of the road to be name after Mzee Latee because he guarded and kept these chunk of land  for generation us.
