Police in Kanungu District are holding a 40 year old man identified as Ampereza Nicholas for hacking his 27 year old girlfriend.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Elly Maate says Nicholas, a resident of Kayambacho cell, Nyakinoni sub county chopped to death Peace Namara, a bar attendant and a resident of same village.
It is alleged that on Monday 3rd January 2022 at around 5 pm when Ampereza developed a misunderstanding with his girlfriend now the deceased with whom she has cohabiting for some time.
It's said that Ampereza reportedly learnt that the girlfriend had gotten another man she was planning to marry.
In anger, the suspect decided to pick a panga and cut his girlfriend in the neck, nearly beheading her.
The matter was reported to Nyakinoni police post under SD REF 07/3/1/2022 by Turyatunga Baker, the chairman LC1 Kayambacho cell.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kihihi Health Center IV for pending postmortem.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Kihihi Police Station and the murder weapon recovered and exhibited.
