Hon Ojara Mapenduzi retains Bardege-Layibi Division MP seat

Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi (NRM), has retained Bardege-Layibi Division parliamentary seat after he was declared winner on Friday January 15th, 2026 polls.

Incumbent Mapenduzi was elected the member of parliament in the next parliament with 8,835 votes, beating his closest contender Komakech Lyandro (DP) who polled 4,417 votes while Robinson Akera (NUP) got 442 votes,  Norbert Mugabe (ANT) polled 248 votes, and Michael Oala (Independent) secured 127 votes.

Bardege-Layibi Division has 53,735 voters and 112 polling stations, according to the information received from Gulu City electoral commission returning officer Mike Jjuuko.

In the parliamentary elections, Gulu City voted PFF's Betty Aol Ocan as the Woman MP, DP's Hon Norbert Mao as Laroo-Pece Division MP, and NRM's Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi as the Bardege-Layibi Division MP.
