James Leku Pilli of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has won the Adjumani West parliamentary by-election, taking 12,423 votes to secure the vacant seat.
The Electoral Commission announced the final results on Thursday evening at Adjumani District Council Hall, where independent candidate Gasper Draga was declared runner-up with 2,559 votes.
Returning Officer Akao Eunice Christine declared Leku Pilli elected at 8:31pm following the completion of the tally from all 114 polling stations across the constituency.
The official Return Form for Transmission of Results indicates that Leku Pilli received the highest number of votes cast in the election.
A total of 14,982 valid votes were recorded. The Electoral Commission also reported 234 rejected ballot papers and 19 spoilt ballots.
Leku Pilli now takes over the parliamentary seat that fell vacant after the death of former Adjumani West MP Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali on July 18, 2026.
