The homes to former presidential candidates Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine and Dr Kizza Besigye have been reportedly surrounded by security operatives ahead of Museveni's swearing-in.
According to Kyagulanyi, his home has been sealed off by military, nearly 48 hours to the swearing-in of President Museveni at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
“The situation at Magere is still tense, with a very heavy military deployment. All vehicles leaving or coming to my home are searched. They have mounted tents and camped all over. This is how (Museveni) plans to swear himself in!” Kyagulanyi took to the Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Kyagulanyi and Dr Besigye are currently under house detention in order not to disrupt President Museveni's inauguration ceremony on Wednesday at Kololo ceremonial grounds.
According to UPDF Deputy Spokesperson Col Deo Akiiki, the security presence at Kyagulanyi's home is meant to offer him security.
“The deployment at Bobi Wine’s residence is for his own good. We accord security based on the weight of a person. He is a distinguished Ugandan. His security can’t be as anybody else’s, But he was also invited. I saw the invitation,”Col Akiiki said.
President Museveni is expected to swear in for his next term on Wednesday, in a scientific ceremony that will be attended by only 4,042 people.
President-elect invited Kyagulanyi and all the other nine presidential candidates of the 2021 presidential polls to attend his swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday 12th May 2021.
Among all those presidential candidates who were invited to attend the ceremony were all seen turning down the invitations.
