Multi-talented dancehall artist and songwriter Daugy Fresh says he hasn’t been taking his music career seriously like a business.
In an interview with Mega FM 102, the Timu Giwu hitmaker admitted that lack of commitment has kept him stagnant.
He said he would release new music, then sit back and relax, assuming fans were still enjoying it without pushing the song further.
“I have to start treating music as a business,” Daugy Fresh said. “I don’t care how my music is doing. That is my weakness. I don’t bother to know how it’s performing.”
The artist blamed the slow growth of his career on himself, saying he has not been close to music stakeholders and that has stopped his music from moving.
Daugy Fresh also revealed he paused music for a while to go back to school.
“At some point I had to go back to school for almost one and a half years. Doing music when you are far from your fans is not easy,” he added.
Known for hits such as Ikin Gi, Ninekur, Wilobo Man Ba, Timu Giwu, Abikuri, Mar Dong Obedi, Noisy Neighbour, Perom, and several collaborations, Daugy Fresh is considered one of the most underrated artists.
