Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Tanzania's first ever First Gentleman, has died.
Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi announced the death in a national broadcast on Monday morning, September 7, 2026.
Mr. Hassan, 78, passed away at around 8:00 AM at the Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar where he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition.
Funeral arrangements are underway in his hometown of Kizimkazi, Zanzibar.
