MP Gilbert Olanya awards best PLE performers with Mattress, best schools received cash prizes

Gilbert Olanay, the Kilak south member of parliament who also doubles as Chairperson public account committee of the parliament was over the weakened awarded the best pupils and schools that excelled in the 2023 PLE exams from his constituency with a gift of mattresses and cash prizes.

Olanay says his initiative that has lasted for 8 years is aimed at promoting positive competition between the schools in his constituency hence promoting boosting education in his area of jurisdiction. 

He notes that the mattress motivates the children to work hard and to help part of the requirement by parents while cash prizes is a token of appreciation to the teacher who put effort in ensuring their candtes pass with first grades.

The event that happened at Olwal trading center witnessed At least 38 pupils from the 13 examination centers in Kilaka South constituency who passed with first grades receiving the 1-inch mattresses.

Meanwhile, the schools that obtained first grade were given a cash prize of one hundred thousand shilling per first grade, this witnessed Te-Kibur primary hosted Restore Leadership academy primary moving home with a lion share of 1.5 million shilling after they obtained 15 pupils in first grades followed by Amuru Lamogi primary school that got six hundred thousand shillings.

Meanwhile, Otwee modern Lujoro received four hundred thousand shillings, and Lacor Mary Immaculate received three hundred thousand shillings.

Keyo primary that hosted Musalabas Dr. Andrew, Jimo, and Parabongo also received 200,000 shillings respectively.

Other examination centers including Pagak, Kaladima, Amuru Rec Kiceke, Otwee public, and Guru Guru primary hosting spring ambassador primary school each received one hundred thousand shillings respectively.

Amuru districts in 2023 registered a total of 3,462 pupils of which 81 got first grade, 1068 got division two, 1,027 passed with third garages 604 obtained fourth grade, 609 failed exams 73 missed examination.

Lamaro prudence Amayo of restore leadership who scored aggregate 7 and was the best pupil in girls categories cherishes Gilbert Olanay over his generosity for offering her a mattress.

She said the donation would reduce the cost of the requirements that her parents should have met.

The function was attended by parents who accompanied their best pupils, teachers, political, religious, and cultural leaders from Amuru, and officials from the Amuru district education department.
