Gen. Charles Otema Awany has declared his intention to contest for the position of the area MP for Gulu West in the 2026 general election.
The General who has decided to vie for political office is currently engaged in a mobilization and consultation programme with the aim of gaining more support from the local community in Gulu West Consitency leading up to the 2026 general election.
However, the area MP for Gulu West, Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi, has not yet expressed his interest in contesting for the position of going back to parliament in the 2026 general election but we believe he is going for the same position.
Despite early campaigning by some of the politicians who have started it, it's important to note that organizing campaigns is against when the election commission has not yet provided the roadmap for campaigning.
