Ever since the launch of ''Let's All Protect Our Environment'' campaign to end up the charcoal dealing business in Northern Uganda, MP Gilbert Olanya has been facing it rough from the hands of law enforcers.
Kilak South MP Gilbert Olanya has again been re-arrested from Amuru Magistrate Court premise on Monday morning 17th April 2023.
According to his press secretary, Rachkara Robinson Olanya was arrested from Amuru Magistrate Court premise.
Rachkara says the lawmaker recorded the statement on fresh charges and released on police bond.
This is not the first time the Kilak South MP is arrested, in June 2020, he was detained together with other MPs for demonstrating against the continuous movement of trucks to and from Elegu border post in Amuru.
Olanya went as surety to bail out the eight (8) arrested environmental activists who were arrested last week and charged with malicious damage.
The suspects are; Opio Denis, Acire Walter, Ocii Denis, Ayella Mosk, Opudo Patrick, Ouma Gerald, Okello Caeser and Opwonya Robert.
These suspects who were arrested 11th April, 2023 from Amuru appeared before court today Monday 17th April 2023 at Amuru Magistrate Court but they were all denied bail applications and remanded to Amuru Prison Farm and expecting to re-appear before court.
