5 people arrested in connection with brutal murder of Seeta High School teacher

Police in Mukono District are holding five suspects in connection with the murder of Oloya Ivan, a 30-year-old teacher at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus.

The tragic incident unfolded in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division on the night of March 22, 2025, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The suspects, now in police custody, have been identified as Kasumba Paul, 21; Mabale Simon, 23; Kibuuka Tom, 38; Lukodda Simon, 18; and Kandoole Charles Dani, 16.

All five are casual laborers, except for Kibuuka, who works as a mechanic. Their alleged involvement in the crime has raised concerns over safety in the area.

According to initial reports, Oloya was attacked while on his way home from work. The assault took place near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Abbey Mercy, is also a teacher.

Authorities believe the attack was premeditated, but the exact motive remains unclear.

Police deployed a sniffer dog to the scene, which led officers to the suspects. They were subsequently arrested and taken in for questioning.

Oloya’s body was transported to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

The tragic death of Oloya Ivan has left the community reeling. Friends, family, and colleagues describe him as a dedicated educator and a kind-hearted individual.
