The Inspectorate of Government has arrested Nwoya District CAO Nantume Janephar Egunyu and two other people over abuse of office and theft of public money.
She was arrested with farmer Fred Kalisa of Lungulu Sub-county and businessman Wanda Ronald of Buikwe District.
The IG says between January 2023 and December 2024, Egunyu allowed an illegal animal market to operate in Gotokwara Village, Nwoya, without following proper procedures.
Kalisa and Wanda are accused of stealing over 20 million shillings from the district while managing the market. All three are expected in the Anti-Corruption Court on April 28 to take plea.
The IG says the arrests are part of a countrywide crackdown on corruption in local governments.
