On Friday, Awilo Longomba, the legendary Congolese musician, brought Gulu City down with his electrifying performance, leaving many in awe.
Awilo Longomba stepped on stage at 2:00 AM and gave a non-stop performance for one and half hour, wrapping up at 3:30 AM.
Making his debut in Luo land, the soukous icon captivated the crowd with his smooth vocals, high-energy delivery, and undeniable charisma.
The screams from adoring fans reached a fever pitch as Awilo performed hits like Cate Le Coin, Bundele, Coupe Bibamba, Monyen Té, Carolina, Bizou, and Cache Cache, cementing his status as a global heartthrob.
The fans sang along word for word with the Congolese legend and cheered wildly as he danced effortlessly across the stage. His set was a seamless blend of sensual ballads and upbeat anthems, showcasing his versatility as an iconic soukous artist.
Awilo who found unmatched love and energy in Gulu City, Northern Uganda promised to buy a house and relocate in Gulu City.
He however took a moment and introduced his team, which included Ugandans, saying he gives chances to Ugandan people because he wants unity.
"You see me, I give chance to Uganda people too. I don't want just Congolese. I want to mix. Africa needs unity. The reason why, if I come, I mix Uganda and Congo," he said.
