Legendary musician Lucky Bosmic Otim has spoken about his being very vocal in the past, saying he made a conscious decision to change his direction.
Bosmic made the remark during NUMA Awards celebration held at Pece Stadium on 1st January 2026, urging fellow musicians to desist from using vulgar language in their songs, amid growing concern from audiences about declining standards in contemporary music.
He cautioned that an increasing number of upcoming artists are resorting to explicit and offensive lyrics, a trend he said troubles music fans across the region.
According to him, music has power; as creatives, 'we must use it responsibly to build their communities,''
Drawing from his own artistic journey, Bosmic said that while he was once outspoken and critical in his music, he has since toned down his language and shifted towards traditional music that promotes peace, unity, and cultural values.
“I was very vocal in the past, but I made a conscious decision to change direction,” Bosmic said. “Music has power, and as creatives, we must use it responsibly to build our communities.”
He further urged creatives in Northern Uganda to work together and unite, noting that cohesion within the industry would make it easier for artists to attract government support and partnerships with development stakeholders.
