The family of the late St Mary's hospital Lacor director, Dr Cyprian Opira has released the arrangements for his burial.
There will be a requiem mass at Our Lady of Africa in Mbuya from 2:00 pm today, 1st November before the body leaves for Gulu tomorrow Saturday 2nd November 2024.
The body will then be kept at St Mary's Hospital Lacor mortuary awaits burial day which is Saturday 9th November 2024.
On Friday, 8th November 2024, the body will leave the mortuary for a vigil at the deceased's home in Bardege.
On Saturday, 9th November 2024, his body will be returned to Lacor Hospital where will be laid to rest next to Dr. Piero Corti, Dr. Lucille Corti, and Dr. Mathew Lukwiya.
Dr Cyprian Opira died on 30th October 2024 at 12:40.pm from Mulago National Referral Hospital after battling an undisclosed illness.
He dedicated his entire life to improving healthcare and serving community with unwavering commitment and compassion. His leadership, vision, and tireless efforts have profoundly impacted many lives he touched.

KEY UPDATES FROM SECOND MEETING OF FAMILY MEMBERS FOR DECENT SEND-OFF OF DR. CYPRIAN OPIRA HELD ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2024, AT THE HOME OF JUSTICE EMERITUS RALPH OCHAN IN KIRA MUNICIPALITY, WAKISO DISTRICT, UGANDA.
1. Memorial Service for Kampala will be held on Friday, Nov 1, 2024, at Our Lady of Africa in Mbuya from 2:00 pm (EAT). Expected dignitaries include Chief Justice Chigamoi Owiny Dollo, Minister of Justice Hon. Norbert Mao, Ambassador Olara Otunnu, among others. Bosco Aludi will be the Master of Ceremony for the service.
2. The body of the deceased will leave Kampala for Gulu on Nov 2, 2024. The body will be kept in Lacor Hospital mortuary. All activities, including prayers, will be held at St. Mary's Hospital, Lacor, Gulu City, Uganda. On Friday, 8th November 2024, the body will leave the mortuary for a vigil at the deceased's home in Bardege.
3. Burial will take place on Saturday, 9th November 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital, Lacor, Gulu City Uganda where the deceased will be laid to rest next to Dr. Piero Corti, Dr. Lucille Corti, and Dr. Mathew Lukwiya.
4. For efficient and effective coordination of the send-off, Justice Emeritus Ralph Ochan will be the primary focal point for the family, while Pierro Paul Ochaya will represent the management of Lacor Hospital.
