The deported Ugandan ambassador to Canada, Joy Ruth Acheng has found herself at the centre of controversy following her deportation saga.
Acheng was deported by the Canadian government on 21st August, 2024 after confrontation with National Unity Platform (NUP) protesters in Ottawa, Canada.
However, the response wasn't all positive. Facing a wave of online criticism, Acheng clapped back at her haters with a sharp statement on her X: "No hooligan will bring me down''.
She didn't stop there, addressing the negativity directly with a scathing remark: ''I am a patriotic, a tested and proven NRM cadre and daughter of Lango. We are allergic to fear''.
Aceng's pointed out that she is never moved of people's comments and she's still strong while waiting for where the president will deploy her as the next ambassador again.
"Where should the president deploy me for the next ambassadorial role? I am a patriotic, a tested and proven NRM cadre. No hooligan will bring me down. I see your comments but I’m still strong". - she tweeted.
In 2021, President Yoweri Museveni appointed Ambassador Acheng as Uganda’s representative to Canada as a challenge to improve relations between the two countries.
