The Paramount Chief of Acholi, Rwot David Onen Acana II has warned his rival faction to stop spreading rumors and false information.

Rwot Acana was addressing journalists from his official residence in Gang-Kal Acholi in Kanyagoga in Gulu City when he made reference to rival factions of Acholi Chiefs led by Rwot  Santos Apire of Atiak Chiefdom.

Acana revealed that some of the Chiefs who are against him like Rwot Apire of Atiak and Rwot Ogenga John of Labongo Amida were not culturally installed as Chiefs in Acholi.

Rwot Acan wonders on what grounds are the rival faction allegedly removing him because a Cultural Chief is not elected like a Politician.

“Most of the Chiefs who are against me like Rwot Ogenga John and Rwot Apire Santos were not even culturally installed as Chiefs. They only came into those clan heads because they have Money,’’ said Acana.

He also refuted allegations labelled against him that he sold the Kingdom land. He says those are lies and that the Kingdom land cannot be sold because it is still in the Title of Gulu district.

He also revealed that Rwot Atiko of Patiko Kingdom has no power to convene the Council of Chiefs. Acana says that it is the mandate of the Paramount Chief to call for such a meeting.

He also clarified on allegations that his guards assaulted Rwot Casemiro Ongom of Agago. The Paramount Chief said he has never ordered anyone or his guard to do any assault on anyone.
In all my time as the Cultural head of Acholi, I have never harmed anyone in my capacity as the Paramount Chief, those are all lies to taint my name,’’ Acana added.

Acana said in the meeting that was convened recently in Kalongo, they were discussing the issue of Karamojong Cattle rustlers, the issue of balalo and the massive charcoal burning in Acholi.

“It’s always my initiative to convene meetings and discuss issues affecting the people of Acholi. I have recently written to the President where he convened a meeting of leaders at Bar-legi state lodge where issues of cattle rustling were also discussed,’’ he said.He added that these rival factions have since been suspended by the Council of Chiefs which he convened on the 8th of this Month until they apologize and pay a fine.

Acana urged his subjects to be calm saying that all operations and services at Ker-kwaro Acholi are going on normally without any disruption.

The intrigue and power struggle at Ker-kwaro Acholi started last month where a group of Chiefs reportedly accused the Paramount Chief of selling some of the Chiefdom’s property like Land without their permission.
