2 Killed In Elegu Fuel Tanker Crash

Two people were on Wednesday killed when a petrol laden truck registration number SSD 643V/ SSD 487D lost control and fell on them.

The incident happened at around 4pm at Bibia village, Elegu town council along Gulu-Nimule highway.

It's reported that the track heading to South Sudan from Kenya lost control and fell on the deceased and a resident of Bibia East village who was carrying her 1 year old daughter on her back.

The Aswa River Region spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong told journalists that the driver of tanker who is yet to be identified could have doze off.

According to Mudong, the tank who was lifted and the dead bodies were removed and taken to Atiak Health Center IV where postmortem were done.

He also added that the fuel from the tanker whose driver is currently at large has been removed and filled in another fuel tank.

The case has been registered at Elegu Police station under TAR, 17/2022.
