The newly elected LC3 chairperson for Awach Sub County in Gulu district has died mysteriously after developing respiratory complications.
Fred Oteka, 41, died on Monday night at around 9:00 p.m at Awach Health Centre IV where he had been admitted complaining of stomach pain.
His death shocked residents of Awach and the entire Gulu District leaders after
he was reportedly dead after he had earlier in the day eaten pork from one of the local restaurants within Awach Trading Centre and shortly started complaining of the pain.
Oteka is reported to have attended a school management meeting and later went to a pork roasting joint where he was served a plate of pork.
According to Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Police Spokesperson a postmortem conducted by police surgeon indicates that the LC3 Elect for Awach Sub County in Gulu District died of respiratory complications.
Okema further said that police report indicates that one of Oteka’s lungs was damaged, resulting into congested chest and difficulties in breathing. Police categorized his death as natural. The case has been registered with police under Gulu DEF 10/2021.
Oteka who was also a businessman at Awach Trading Centre contested as an independent candidate and beat four other candidates to attain chairmanship seat in the just concluded general elections
