Police in Lamwo district are hunting for a man who is alleged to have strangled and killed his wife in Yaa Pacoro village, Palabek Gem Sub County in Lamwo district yesterday.
Ben Kilara, the LCI Chairperson of the area confirms the incident and identified the suspect as Denis Okumu alias Awuju
According to Kilara the suspect is reported to have strangled his wife identified as Irene Alimocan to death yesterday afternoon before fleeing from home.
Without establishing what exactly caused the incident, Kilara says, the police have already visited the scene and taken statements from family members and taken the body for post mortem.
However, unconfirmed reports from local residents link the incident to possible accusations of extra-marital affairs by the wife
By time of filing this report, the Aswa River Region Police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema refuted having received any report but says, once arrested, the suspect will face charges of murder or manslaughter before the courts of law.
