Resident in Kitgum District who are seeking medical treatment have been left distraught due to the shortage of drugs in the government health units that has been ongoing for years.

The Senior Hospital Administrator, Mr Bezy explained that the hospital has been hit by an urgent drug shortage as a result of delayed supply by the National Medical Stores - NMS, the official supplier of government health units.

However, Mr. Bezy Omoya said that they have been expecting a consignment of medicines since December last year adding that the last time they received an update was on January 13th 2020.

He also revealed that after making contacts with NMS in Gulu, they are optimistic of being supplied next week.

''The drugs that have run-out-of-stock are intravenous fluids, Artesonate, insulin, Tracorium, and gauzes" he said.

He urged the general public to stay calm during the period of the difficulties.
