Alexander Okidi, a former radio personality, has sparked a lively debate with his bold assertion that oldies are 100 times better than today's music.
"Even if legends like Roselyn Otim, Tempra Omona, Jaharia Omera, and Bosmic Otim don't release new songs, we'll still groove to their timeless classics forever," he said.
His assertion follows singer Lincoln Ferod's post saying, "If Awilo can still sell out in your Area, then you are all still ten or twenty years behind musically, sad truth."
Okidi praised artists like Pato Loverboy and Eddy Wizzy for crafting songs with rich, lasting lyrics.
He shared a recent experience at Lawirwodi's birthday bash, where Kela Charlotte's hit song "Mak Kwan" had the crowd going wild, with requests for multiple performances.
Okidi believes established artists like Jose Chameleone and Awilo Longomba are still cashing in on their classic hits.
"The notion that Gulu is behind the times because Awilo Lugomba's concert sold out is nonsense," Okidi said. "Street music might be trending, but meaningful songs never fade.
Artists who create magic don't die; they live on." Okidi concluded, "Old is gold. Good music doesn't fade, and talented musicians live forever.
