During a surprise meeting with these two members of Parliament, producer Powel Elyas of Uptown Records received high recognition for his outstanding contributions towards the development of the Northern Uganda music industry.
Hon Wokorach Simon Peter, member of parliament for Aswa County and Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi, member of parliament Gulu West City Division expressed their deep appreciation to the producer's pivotal role, commending the producer for his exceptional hard work in the music industry.
Hon Wokorach Simon rewarded producer Powell Elyas as the most consistent producer of the year 2023 with an accolade.
Meanwhile Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi MP Gulu West City Division acknowledged him as the best Northern Uganda music producer of the year 2023 with an award.
This came after producers were not appreciated or recognized for their hardworking role in the music industry at the just concluded Northern Uganda Music Awards (NUMA) 2023.
According to the two parliamentary leaders, producer Powell Elyas was one of the producers who worked so hard last year and he deserved appreciation though he wasn't recognized for the good he did so they came out to appreciate him in a special way.
Speaking at the rewarding ceremony at Bomah Hotel Gulu on Sunday evening, Hon Wokorach thanked producer Powell for not misusing his talent like others and putting it in work.
"Elyas I want to thank you, I want to thank God for the brilliantness he gave you. I want to thank you for welcoming the talent and putting it in use rather than letting it go because there are so many talent people are misusing outside there. They have been given talent but they are not putting into practice." He stated.
On the other hand, Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi noted that he has enjoyed the producer's sweat and asked him to keep on growing and embracing many people by holding their hands and building them.
He stressed that producer Elyas is one of the most successful producers that the North is blessed with. He continued and said he wants to see the producer competing nationally but not here in Northern Uganda.
'I have enjoyed his efforts but I have also seen him grow and so my young brother I wish you good luck but you also need to know that this recognition which we have able to acknowledge should be taken as a challenge to you. You need to keep on growing and embrace people, hold their hands, build them and that's how we grow. So I consider you as one of the most successful producers that we have in the North and it is my prayers that with the pesh you are setting, I don't want to see you competing here in Northern Uganda. I want to see you competing nationally. Gulu should now be attracting people from elsewhere coming to produce their songs here.'' - Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi tasked Eylas.
