The Executive Director of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu, Dr. Cyprian Opira is under self-quarantined at the hospital after his return from Italy where he had been recommended for further medical attention.
Dr Opira is said to have returned from Italy on March 11th traveled from Entebbe International Airport to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in a specialised ambulance where he is currently being isolated as he undergoes monitoring for symptoms of the Coronavirus (COVID -19).
According to the Communication Officer of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, Josephine Anying, Dr. Opira returned from Italy previously and as a precaution, he has been put in isolation and he will be isolated for the medical recommended 14 days the incubation period for the virus to begin showing symptoms.
Dr.Opira will be in isolation for 14 days as recommended by health experts. The 14 days self-quarantine provides enough time to know whether or not suspected patients will become ill and be contagious to other people." She said.
