In an act of mob justice, a 53 year old man was on Monday reportedly beaten to death after he hacked his wife to death. Police in North Kyoga region is currently investigating a double murder in which two people died a mysterious dead in Lira City.
According to police, they are inquiring how 43 year old Akello Christine was murdered by her husband Alal Denis 53, who was turn killed by a mob in broad daylight on 13th September, 2021 in Anai Obur Cell, Ober Ward, Lira City West Division.
It is alleged that both the deceased were married but temporarily separated as a result of domestic violence.
According to ASP Jimmy Okema, the Regional Police Spokesperson said on Monday 13th Sept 2021 at about 11am, one Akello Christine at Anai Obur Cell was on her way to a small saving group on a Boda Boda, her husband Alal Denis followed them on another Boda Boda and intercepted them and cut the woman on the thigh and the neck using a panga.
He added that the man then took off and was followed by angry mob who witnessed the killing and the same panga he used was used against him and was also killed instantly.
The scene of the crime was visited by a team of homicide and detectives from Lira police station who transported the bodies to the regional referral hospital for postmortem.
