Gunya Julius Labeja, a public servant and social worker has announced that he will be contesting for Gulu City mayoral seat come 2026 general elections.
Labeja expressed confidence that after hearing the people's voice and cry he has come out as the only leader who is ready to address the problem they are facing in Gulu City. Labeja has joined the mayoral race on NRM ticket.
"Friends, the people of Gulu City, we have heard your voice, we have heard your cry, here is our response!'' - he broke the news on his social media.
In the current online poll conducted by Luo TV, Labeja emerged as the clear frontliner in the Gulu City mayoral race and the leading candidate for the 2026-2031 term, beating the incumbent mayor Okwonga Alfred, Zeru O.O Abukha, and Acire Christopher.
